More About Kathryn Rammell (She/Her)

Languages: English

Kathryn Rammell is back at PBRising Stars, this time as a mentor! Kathryn was selected as a PBRising Stars mentee in 2022, the inaugural year of the program. Shortly after completing the mentorship, Kathryn signed with literary agent, Christie Megill, at The CAT Agency. Her debut picture book, RORY THE REMARKABLE DRAGON, was scooped up by Scholastic and is set to publish September 2024!

Kathryn's work is inspired by the quirky imagination of her youth as well as the adventures she goes on with her family. When not writing or illustrating, Kathryn can be found planning roadtrips to National Parks or beach hopping down the Pacific Coast Highway.

Kathryn’s strengths include…

Facial and body expression, humor, human connection, and composition flow. Her writing strengths include humor, layering stories, and word chopping. She is a great cheerleader for others' work and loves to see others succeed. She asks questions to help the creator discover the heart of their story and what matters to them. She can also help with writing clear and engaging query letters.

What Kathryn is looking for…

Kathryn is looking for an author-illustrator who is passionate about KidLit and wants to be traditionally published. Their mentee must be someone who can listen to feedback and isn't afraid to revise. She hopes to connect with someone who wants to work on a dummy, getting it ready to submit to agents. She connects best with humor and/or fantasy.

A Note from Kathryn:

“Let joy and passion guide your journey!”
